Well thats the first title I have ever written that didnt have keywords stuffed inside of it, and this picture is for anthony.
I started in about 2002 doing online marketing in Florida. It consited of a Yahoo pagebuilder insta-website and buying used videos from the thriftstore. I would sell them with my wife on Amazon and make $1 to $4 per sale.
This was at the same time I was doing IT support for HP / Verifone in Clearwater, Florida. From there a career on Ebay making 10-40k gross sales per month selling return items from Best Buy and Circuit City (who dat?).
Once SEO starting blowing up so did my love of coding, so did my love of twisting website in a new way and seeing it with robot eyes that google would see it through as well.
We moved on to affiliate marketing and google adsense. I cleared thousands a day on Clickbank (and $15 other days), sold things paypal says you cant and had 3 accounts closed, and I believe I was on the Craigslist most wanted list for a few years there. Backpage was up second to deliver a belt to my behind.
Worked as a somewhat respectable SEO through the real estate boom and cornered local markets on service industries. I actually found these guys – contractormarketingpros.com using my same business model of building market share then turning around and selling the valuable “established” traffic.
They control the air conditioning market in South Florida as we speak. Same thing I had done with mortgages in Charlotte from 2004-2006.
Then after a long blur of adsense renevue 4 figures per month and a long brush with pure dating traffic and CPA income I have come to a crossroads.
It turns our business everywhere are looking for the guy in his moms basement who has done nothing but watch google SERPS and rank sites for a decade.
So I have left the me me me affiliate marketing fun and joined with CGR Creative in Charlotte. CGR is a design group comprised of exceptional graphic and web designers in need of someone to handle the grind of search and internet marketing.
(I pretend it’s a grind so they pay me, but I love it)
I climbed out of my basement and exposed myself to sunlight to give it a go. I lucked out to find a great atmosphere where I can do what I already do for fun. Kinda having a hard time with a 9-5 job where I do what I enjoy more than playstation 3…..I feel almost guilty.
So next time you see me ranking a site it will be with a halo over my head, a client to please with results and a sense of pride that the little thing I have done for fun till 5am most nights is now looked on as a blossoming industry of upstanding citizens.
But, on the other hand…if I still had 500 ads on Craiglist selling clickbank products….I wouldn’t be dumb enough to admit it.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN I WILL BE BUYING ANTHONY A COFFEE.
