Google Video Certification

Google Partners Video Certification

A little insight on the Google Partners Video Certification exam and its’ questions. So this week I became the first in the state of North Carolina to get the newly offered Google Partners Video Advanced certification. I only mention or find this amusing since huge groups like Reach Local have not and I don’t really want clients. I mostly practice SEO/SEM/etc/etc for my own professional satisfaction and the clients I already serve or have served over the last 12 years or so.

If you consider the “Carolina’s” all as one entity then Carolina Digital was the first company in the Carolina’s to become video certified and serve the entire region. (I owe that link in return for what was a pretty good comeback). FYI: Businesses would be wise to contact their group for Ad management, since they are top notch Google Partner.

AnyWhooo,  I could have posted a number of the questions on here from screen captures or something like that, but it is important to maintain the integrity of a certification. This is one of the harder tests Google has put forth, second only to the Analytics IQ test, but for different reasons.

The total number of ad formats and content is pretty small in video advertising. Google has managed to stretch it out to 74 questions by wording the same topics in very deceptive ways. The questions were often vague and left you thinking two answers could “technically” be right.

For this reason, I know at least two people who have never failed a certification exam who managed to need two tries on this one. Getting used to the “rough draft” questions that are in an exam this new took one try.

These are some thing to study twice as these topics will cover at least 15 questions on the Video Advertising Certification Exam:

  • CTA overlays can be where
  • What metrics like earned actions are in Youtube Analytics and which are in adwords.
  • Where average view times are listed for video ads.
  • Where in stream and in display link too.
  • mobile masthead appear where
  • Overlays on mobile or not
  • Companion banners link to what
  • If you want to increase traffic to channel (raise bids indisplay or stream ? remarketing?
  • Where can instream appear? on display network?
  • What changes when you link youtube and adwords.
  • To get full access to youtube analytics you must link to adwords?

These are what I jotted down after my first go at the exam where I got a 82% and needed an 85% to pass.

This is not only the most oddly worded question on any exam so far but also the highest required mark to pass at 85%. I hope this little batch of notes helps you squeak by on this exam, since vague questions from the Google Video Certification Exam can cost even the greatest expert 5-10 points right off the bat.

It’s not just “what’s in a name,” but rather the fact that the majority of my clients are in North Carolina.

I just respected the logic and wit. I think anyone anywhere would be smart to hire your group. Thats why the link, im certainly not looking for clients.

I just sat for this exam and got 60 correct or 81%. I was pretty unhappy with how much information is not covered on the study guide. I have passed the other 3 Adwords exams by combining my knowledge of the program with the information in the study guide, but I felt that was not adequate for this exam and that is somewhat disheartening.

I cleared all 3 exams in first attempt by studied the information given in the study guide. But for Video advertising exam I felt that you need some practical knowledge to clear the exam. I clear out the exam after 2 attempts.
